The longtime educator filed her paperwork this morning with the Supervisor of Elections office

Tampa, Fla., Monday, February 5, 2018 – Longtime Tampa educator Dr. Stacy Hahn today announced her candidacy for the District 2, Hillsborough County School Board seat. She filed her paperwork with the Supervisor of Elections office early this morning for the 2018 fall election cycle.

“As an educator, working professional and mother, I’ve seen firsthand how a quality education can change a life,” said Dr. Hahn. “I’m running for the School Board to use my classroom and advocacy experience for the betterment of Hillsborough County Public Schools. With hard work and collaboration, we can make the dream of a quality education system a reality for our students, teachers, parents, and community stakeholders.”

Dr. Hahn’s career spans more than two decades with positions held at every level of the K-20 spectrum, including: public school teacher, student advocate, grant facilitator, program coordinator, educational researcher, and university professor. She is currently the Director of Professional Development and Partnerships for the University of South Florida (USF), College of Education, as well as the Associate Director of The David C. Anchin Center at USF. Her efforts are designed to create strategic partnerships between the University and PreK-12 teachers, focused on the development of quality and relevant teacher preparation and support programs.

She was a special education teacher and taught in both elementary and middle schools throughout the state of Florida. As a faculty member in the USF, College of Education Department of Teaching and Learning, she taught both undergraduate and graduate courses. During this time, she also served as the coordinator of the special education undergraduate program.

Dr. Hahn earned her Ph.D. in special education from the University of Florida. She lives in Tampa with her husband, Jeff Hahn, three children, Ethan, Jackson, and Aidan, and their dog, Murphy. To learn more about Dr. Hahn, visit www.votestacyhahn.com
